Colour Revolt: live review and video
I covered this past weekend’s Colour Revolt/Turbo Fruits show at The Earl for Dead Journalist. You can read that review here.
Colour Revolt’s latest album The Cradle took me by surprise. I tried to get into Plunder, Beg and Curse a couple of years ago and just did not like it at all. I remember thinking it was bland and by-the-numbers. The Cradle got the right reviews from the right places, though, and the rebirth story was intriguing enough to get me listening.
I’m glad I gave them another shot. The new album suffers at times from overproduction that makes it sound duller than it probably should, but it’s overall a very solid record from a very likable band. It also has one of the best tracks of 2010 in “8 Years,” the bands very own “History Lesson – Part II.” Check out a video of them playing that live at Criminal Records this weekend, uploaded by youtube user courtneyylo.
